The trailer of Varun Dhawan and Anushka Sharma starrer Sui Dhaaga, which has been inspired by the government’s Make In India campaign is out and I must say that it’s really impressive.
Sui Dhaaga sheds light on the life and struggles of artisans who ensure their art of embroidery doesn’t die. The trailer of Sui Dhaaga opens with an aimless Mauji (Varun Dhawan), who is happy doing meager work until his wife Mamta (Anushka Sharma), who inspires him to gain his self-respect and start his own venture.
Mauji picks his sewing machine and begins his journey towards self-employment, as Mamta helps him expand it into a small-scale handloom industry.
Sui Dhaaga has a small-town setting, reminds me of films like Dum Laga Ke Haisha, Bareilly Ki Barfi, and Shubh Mangal Savdhan. Both Varun Dhawan and Anushka Sharma have undergone a total transformation and look very impressive.
“When I got the script initially, I didn’t have any dates only. So I came (met makers) to say that I don’t have dates for the film. But when I read the script and Sharat’s writing, I was just so blown away that I was laughing, crying. It took me on a ride. And I always loved family films, I always wanted to do Indian films, the kind of films that reach every part of the country. And when I read the script I knew I could not leave this film. I had to do the film and become Mauji.” stated Varun Dhawan.
The film has been shot in Chandari where the characters reside. The location adds a touch to the film and I feel this will set the film apart and I am sure it will stand out.
All in all, Sui Dhaaga is a film that I am really looking forward to as the film looks real and very inspirational.
Produced by Maneesh Sharma and presented by Yash Raj Films, the film which has been directed by Sharat Katariya is set for a September 28, 2018 release.
