After creating a stir with the teaser, the first trailer of Manikarnika starring Kangana Ranaut as Rani Laxmibai of Jhansi is finally here.

Shot on a grand scale, the sets of Jhansi are made believable and the British threat, impending.

The trailer shows the transformation of a spirited young girl named Manikarnika who becomes the fierce freedom fighter we know. With blood, battle gear, weaponry and finally draped in patriotism. We also get glims of all the almost all the principal characters in the film.

The film has been mired in a number of controversies this whole year, beginning with Ketan Mehta accusing Kangana of hijacking his movie to Kangana’s many injuries to director Krish walking out of the film and finally her infamous fight with Sonu Sood, who too left the film midway. Phew!!

Kangana Ranaut has put in everything in this film. She hasn’t had a single release since September 2017, with Simran being a disaster.

The buzz around Manikarnika is quite high and her team has been keeping the public interested with pictures, stills and posters releases.

Manikarnika, as we know, is the story of Queen of Jhansi, Rani Laxmibai, who took on the might of the British during the revolt of 1857. Her exemplary courage and battle preparedness is a stuff of legends.

This film will focus on her trajectory from a courageous young girl, marriage to the ruler of Jhansi, Raja Gangadhar Rao (Jisshu Sengupta), a young mother and finally her confrontation with the British and her eventual death.

All in all, Kangana Ranaut as Rani Laxmibai looks fierce and rock solid. I am so looking forward to this one.

Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi stars Kangana Ranaut as Rani Laxmibai, Atul Kulkarni as Tatya Tope, Jisshu Sengupta as Raja Gangadhar Rao, Richard Keep as General Hugh Rose, Suresh Oberoi as Bajirao, Danny Denzongpa as Ghulam Ghaus Khan, Vaibhav Tatwawaadi as Puran Singh, Ankita Lokhande as Jhalkaribai, Yash Tonk as Rao Tula Ram, and many more.

Produced by Zee Studios and Kamal Jain, the film is set for a January 25, 2019 release.
