The trailer opens with Guddu (Kartik Aaryan) wanting to get married. In walks, a strong-headed, modern Rashmi (Kriti Sanon), who suggests a live-in relationship instead of taking the wedding vows. The two get into a live-in relationship but for the world, act like a married couple.
Guddu and Rashmi are just trying out their live-in relationship, but then things fall apart when their families join and their so-called adventure turns into a nightmare as both the families want to know it all.
In the trailer itself, the makers have stuffed two very popular songs, Poster Lagwa Do from the film Aflatoon (1997) and Tony Kakkar’s hugely popular single Coca Cola Tu. But, sorry guys this trick would not work as the film has nothing new to offer.
Kartik as a small town guy looks out of place, while Kriti Sanon’s character in this film reminds me of Bitti, her character in Bareilly Ki Barfi.
With films like Dum Laga Ke Haisha (2015), Shubh Mangal Saavdhan (2017), Bareilly Ki Barfi (2017) and the very recent Stree (2018) and Badhaai Ho (2018), makers feel that if they will set a film in a small town and have an ensemble cast which includes Seema Bhargava Pahwa, Aparshakti Khurana, Pankaj Tripathi and Vinay Pathak, they have a winner at hand. However, according to me, Luka Chuppi falls way short.
The official synopsis of the film reads, “What happens when you decide to live in with your partner but your family joins in too? That’s what Guddu and Rashmi are going to find out.”
All in all, with what I have seen of the trailer, I am not too excited about this one.
Produced by Dinesh Vijan and directed by Laxman Utekar, Luka Chuppi stars Kartik Aaryan, Kriti Sanon, Aparshakti Khurana, Pankaj Tripathi, Vinay Pathak, Seema Bhargava Pahwa and many more.
Shot in Mathura, Luka Chuppi is slated to release on March 01, 2019.
