Kedarnath is all about Mansoor (Sushant Singh Rajput), a Muslim porter / pithoo at Kedarnath who carries the devotees on his back to the Kedarnath shrine for livelihood and Mukku (Sara Ali Khan), a wealthy Hindu girl on a pilgrimage. Mukku falls in love with Mansoor and that’s where the things get ugly because their relationship doesn’t get the approval of her parents. It’s then that she prays for a calamity to hit the holy shrine. We then witness the devastating Uttarakhand floods that had hit the state in 2013.
The trailer is impressive and is stuffed with powerful visuals of the tragedy as water comes gushing down from all sides, destroying everything that comes in its way.
Just like the teaser, here too it is difficult to take your eyes off Sara. She looks stunning, lights up every frame she is in and looks promising in her Bollywood debut. Sara is a mirror image of her mother Amrita Singh as she graces the silver screen for the first time while Sushant compliments her. Post this film we will also get to see Sara sharing screen space with Ranveer Singh in Rohit Shetty’s Simmba.
In the three minutes long trailer, the makers have refrained from giving a glimpse into the songs of Kedarnath. What we get to hear is only an ear-soothing background score. Directed by Abhishek Kapoor, the official description of the trailer reads, a unique journey of love that goes beyond the boundaries of religion.
All in all, Kedarnath hints at an innocent love story amidst the 2013 Uttarakhand floods that left several thousand dead. I am so looking forward to this one on December 07, 2018.
