From the time Manikarnika: The Queen Of Jhansi went on floor, it has been in the news for all the wrong reasons. First, it was the Ketan Mehta controversy and now the latest is that Sonu Soon has staged a walkout due to unavailability of early dates for some patchwork scenes.
Post Sonu’s exit who was essaying a Maratha, Sadashivrao Bhau, Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, who has worked with Kangana in Tanu Weds Manu Returns, has been roped in for the part.
According to a source, “Sonu is currently sporting a beard for Rohit Shetty’s Simmba and other South Indian project, while he sported only a mustache look for Manikarnika. Since we can’t wait for him to finish those films and then do our patch-work scenes, he graciously opted out as we need to complete the shoot at the earliest.”
According to a source close to Sonu, a major reason behind Sonu’s exit from the film is Kangana’s unprofessional attitude and false claims.
On the other hand, Kangana Ranaut has claimed that Sonu left the film as he refused to work under a woman director. Now Kangana had stepped in to direct the patchwork of Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi because Krish, the director of the film got busy with his other film.
“Sonu has never had any problems with anyone in his almost two-decade-long career. Sonu has previously worked with the woman filmmaker, Farah Khan. Also, Kangana claims that Sonu had shot the kushti scene behind her back, but surprisingly the director has to be present on the set to shoot a film and not just the actor,” added the source.
Kangana has claimed that Sonu didn’t even bother to meet her or allocate tentative dates to match combinations with other actors.
“He refused to meet me. He refused to work under a woman director. Even though the team suggested that they have full faith in me, it seems, Sonu had neither dates nor faith,” Kangana said.
Manikarnika: The Queen Of Jhansi, Kangana Ranaut is essaying the role of Rani Laxmibai, in this period drama, which is being been helmed by Krish and presented by Zee Studios. The film is expected to release on January 25, 2019.
