Shilpa Shinde is once again in the news. Recently she made headlines when she joined the Congress and now she has once again made headlines for supporting former cricketer, politician and television personality Navjot Singh Sidhu.

Navjot Singh Sidhu, 55, has been receiving a lot of backlash post his controversial reaction to the Pulwama terror attack that resulted in the killing of more than 40 soldiers of the Central Reserve Police Force. Navjot Singh Sidhu had said that it was wrong to blame an individual or an entire nation for a handful of people.

“For a handful of people, can you blame the entire nation and can you blame an individual. It is a cowardly act and I condemn it firmly. Violence is always condemnable and those who did it must be punished,” he had said quite clearly suggesting that he was shielding the Pakistan PM Imran Khan. Navjot Singh Sidhu’s remarks faced a severe backlash in India and eventually led to him stepping down from The Kapil Sharma Show (Sony Entertainment Television).

Despite the controversy surrounding Navjot Singh Sidhu, Shilpa Shinde came out in support of him. “I am totally against the new phenomenon of banning anyone whose views you don’t concur with. Sadly, CINTAA and other industry bodies are equally complicit in this. Everyone has the right to occupation; you can’t deny me the right to earn my livelihood. In the same vein, I also bat for the rights of Pakistani artists to work in Bollywood, purely on the basis of talent. I have been a victim of this ban culture, so I very well identify with what Siddhi Ji might be going through.” stated the outspoken Shilpa Shinde.

Post her support, things have not been good or Shilpa as she has been receiving a lot of flak on social media with some users even issuing her rape threats. Shilpa has stated that she will be taking strict legal action against the offenders. She added that it was high time authorities cracked down such people who attack women online.
