Besides Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam and Saawariya, Salman Khan and Sanjay Leela Bhansali have also worked together in the 1996 film Khamoshi: The Musical, which also featured Manisha Koirala and Nana Patekar.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s last directorial project was the 2018 film Padmaavat, starring Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and Shahid Kapoor. In fact, for Bhansali, Salman was his first choice to essay the role of Peshwa Baijirao in the film Bajirao Mastani along with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan as Mastani.
However, the project which was supposed to start immediately post Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, but it failed to take off. Sanjay Leela Bhansali was adamant to see his dream come true and he finally managed to put together Bajirao Mastani with Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone, and Priyanka Chopra. A couple of weeks ago there was a buzz that Ishaan Khattar was being approached for a Bhansali film, but the film in question is still in its initial stages.
On the other hand, Salman Khan is currently filming Ali Abbas Zafar’s Bharat, co-starring Katrina Kaif, Tabu, Disha Patani, and Sunil Grover. The film is slated to release on Eid this year. He is also busy producing Nitin Kakkar’s Notebook, which marks the Bollywood debut of Pranutan Bahl and Zaheer Iqbal. Notebook is set to release on March 29, 2019.
Anyways, coming back to both Salman and Bhansali, both are equally excited about the project and this love story will be nothing like what the audiences would expect. Well, this news has been long over dear and the moment this news was made official, everyone has been very excited and looking forward to the magic both Salman and Sanjay Leela Bhansali are set to create.
