Riz Ahmed: From Englistan To Venom

Rizwan Ahmed better known by his stage names Riz Ahmed and Riz MC, is a British Pakistani actor, rapper, and activist. He was initially known for his work in films like The Road to Guantanamo (2006), Shifty (2008), Four Lions (2010), Trishna (2011), Ill Manors (2012), and The Reluctant Fundamentalist (2013), before his break-out role in Nightcrawler (2014). Post which as they say, the rest is history.

Riz has been a part of one of the most anticipated films of the year 2018. Well, Venom, starring Tom Hardy in the titular role alongside actor Riz Ahmed is among the top three most anticipated films of 2018.

Venom, a spin-off of the Spider-Man universe, sees Tom Hardy battle Riz Ahmed’s Dr. Carlton Drake aka Riot, an evil scientist who proves to be a much stronger symbiote than Hardy’s Eddie Brock aka Venom. The film also stars Michelle Williams.

He is also working on a BBC Two series called Englistan, which he describes as the story of three generations of a British-Pakistani family from the late 70s to the present day.

Riz has been working in television and films for years but his claim to fame was HBO’s outstanding mini-series The Night Of, which put Riz on the world map and the cover of Time Magazine.

The irony is the series was almost called off due to the death of James Gandolfini, whose role in the series eventually went to John Turturro. The Night Of made Riz Ahmed a star overnight, the success of which led to roles in films like Rogue One (a Star Wars film) and the latest Jason Bourne movie.

Englistan, the mini-series from the actor could be special because Riz is channeling the actor and writer in him into it.

Well, looking at the way things are shaping up for this talented actor, we are sure that there is lots more in store for him. He is a jack of all trades as well as a master of all.

Here’s wishing this multi-talented star all the very best!!
