Prateik Babbar married his longtime girlfriend Sanya Sagar in a traditional Maharashtrian wedding ceremony in Lucknow on January 23, 2019. The photos from their private wedding started surfacing today on the social media.
Prateik and Sanya got married in Lucknow in presence of their family members and close friends. Bahujan Samaj Party Chief Mayawati, Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav and many other politicians attended their wedding.
Sanya Sagar, daughter of Bahujan Samaj Party leader Pawan Sagar, looked elegant in a red nine-yard, while Prateik looked dashing in a beige coloured sherwani for his wedding. A wedding reception was also held in the evening
Prateik and Sanya’s pre-wedding festivities kick-started on January 22, 2019, with haldi and mehendi ceremonies. For the mehendi ceremony, while Sanya looked pretty in a yellow outfit accessorised with flower tiara, Prateik looked dapper in a kurta-pyjama and green stole.
According to the reports, the couple has been dating each other since early 2017. Prateik had proposed to Sanya in December 2018 during a music festival in Goa. In fact, this much in love couple had got engaged exactly a year ago on the same day (January 22, 2018) and that too in Lucknow.
Earlier, speaking to a publication about his engagement the actor was quoted saying, “Sanya and I, along with our families, decided that something as pure as love should be solemnised on an auspicious day and what better day than Basant Panchami. She’s the best partner I could have asked for. It didn’t take me long to figure out that she was the one for me. I know it sounds clichéd, but I can’t stop counting my blessings and thanking God for all the good that is happening in my life.”
Sanya Sagar is Bahujan Samaj Party leader Pawan Sagar’s daughter while Prateik’s father Raj Babbar also shares a political background and is a Congress MP. Sanya is a NIFT graduate in fashion communication and went to London Film Academy for a diploma in practical filmmaking. She has worked as a production assistant on the Danny Huston-starrer, The Last Photograph, and as a production runner on the Salma Hayek short, 11th Hour.
Prateik and Sanya are expected to host a reception in Mumbai for their friends from the Bollywood fraternity.
