After loads of speculations and Kevin Hart stepping down as host for Oscars 2019, the head of ABC Entertainment, which airs the Academy Awards ceremony, has stated that they would be conducting the show with no host, and would instead highlight celebrities presenting the trophies.
In December, comedian Kevin Hart pulled out of hosting the ceremony following a controversy over old homophobic tweets.
He said he did not want to be a distraction and that he was sorry he had hurt people.
Ellen DeGeneres, who had hosted the 86th Academy Awards in 2014 and her selfie was one of the biggest Oscar moments till date, had even rooted for Kevin Hart as an anchor when the start has come on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.
The Oscars host usually delivers an opening monologue as well as being responsible for many of the ceremony’s memorable comedic moments. As well as the main host, the ceremony also usually enlists an array of movie stars to present the individual statuettes.
The 91st Academy Awards ceremony, presented by The Academy Of Motion Picture Arts And Sciences (AMPAS), is set to honour the best films of 2018. As always it will be held at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles, California on February 24, 2019.
During the ceremony, The Academy Of Motion Picture Arts And Sciences will present the awards in 24 categories. The ceremony that will be televised in the United States by American Broadcasting Company (ABC), is being produced by Donna Gigliotti and Glenn Weiss, with Glenn Weiss also serving as director. Since the viewership has been on a decline, the makers are all set to add a lot of drama and spice to this year’s ceremony
Will all this and a couple of snubs, this year is going to be a year to watch out for.
