The 91st Academy Awards nominations were announced today, January 22, 2019, with Roma and The Favourite leading the way with 10 nominations each.

Roma, set in Mexico and directed by Alfonso Cuaron, is up for both Best Film and Best Foreign Film. There were few surprises in the list of nominees, other than perhaps the exclusion of Bradley Cooper in the Best Directing category for A Star Is Born and Roma star Marina de Tavira, an unexpected name in the Best Supporting Actress nods.

The nominations were announced by Kumail Nanjiani and Tracee Ellis Ross. However, a host for the main event is yet to be announced after Kevin Hart stepped down over controversial tweets he posted.
