Movie Review: Simmba – Rohit Shetty And Ranveer Singh Set To Belt Out A Block Buster

It’s entertaining, it’s fun and it’s going to set the Box Office on fire, well, I am talking about the film Simmba that has just hit the silver screens.

Simmba is all about Sangram Bhalerao (Ranveer Singh) who has the word Police tattooed on his forearm. He is fun, is over the top, he takes a lot of pride in being corrupt.

Sangram Bhalerao is transferred to Miramar, Goa, a lucrative posting for a crooked officer. His first move is to seek out the local don, Durva Ranade (Sonu Sood), and he promises not to interfere in his business.

We also get to meet Aakruti (Vaidehi Parshurami), a medical student who teaches underprivileged children. Sangram has an emotional connect with Aakruti and becomes her defacto brother.

In walks, Shagun Sathe (Sara Ali Khan), a cafe owner who supplies lunch to the police station. Sangram falls in love with Shagun and we get into some hilarious sequences between the two.

As the film progresses, an incident changes Sangram Bhalerao and we are introduced to DCP Bajirao Singham (Ajay Devgn). What happens then is what forms the latter half of the film.

We also have a brigade of cameos from Tusshar Kapoor, Kunal Khemu, Shreyas Talpade, Arshad Warsi, and last but not the least Karan Johar.

Simmba is fast paced, its laced with humour and most of the songs are foot tapping. The film is fast paced and there is never a dull moment.

Sara Ali Khan is a breath of fresh air. She lights up the screen each time she comes on it. Sara is a star who delivers a rock solid performance and will compel you to want more. In fact, she is one of the best finds of the year 2018.

However, the film belongs to Ranveer Singh. His energy is infectious and he super entertaining. Do watch this film as it will surely entertain you and shall make you asking for more. Kudos to Rohit Shetty and his team for belting out this.

Based on the Telugu film Temper (2015), starring N. T. Rama Rao Jr. and Kajal Aggarwal, Simmba has all the ingredients to entertain. The film is a riot and will keep you engrossed all the way.

Rating: Four And A Half
