Movie Review: Saheb, Biwi Aur Gangster 3 – Sanjay Dutt Belts Out Another Disaster

The year 2017, Sanjay Dutt made his re-entry on the silver screen with Bhoomi and now a year later he is back with Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster 3, a film, which has a lineage, but sadly it has nothing great to offer.

Uday Pratap Singh (Sanjay Dutt) is framed against two others; his father Maharaja Hari Singh (Kabir Bedi) and brother Vijay (Deepak Tijori), both of whom are upset as Uday returns to India, after being deported from the UK following a murderous assault on an Englishman who dares to needle him in his den.

Uday demands his share of the royal property, but there is little left in the family’s kitty to spare. In all of this walks in a courtesan, Suhani (Chitrangda Singh), Uday Pratap’s mistress.

We even get to meet Aditya Pratap Singh and his alcoholic wife Madhavi, Jimmy Sheirgill and Mahie Gill who reprise their roles from the previous instalments. From here on starts a cat and most game, wherein everyone is trying to out beat the other. There is confusion and more confusion and we finally limp towards the climax of this film. Phew!!

The music, both songs, as well as the background score, are just all over the place and the screenplay by Sanjay Chauhan is shoddy as well as choppy. Guess the director, Tigmanshu Dhulia, re-wrote the script of the film at the editing table and that’s primarily the reason the film lacks clarity.

The characters are caricaturist and come and so in scenes mouthing lines that often do not make any scenes. To make matters worse we have a political drama thrown in that the makers thought would add rusticity, but sadly everything falls flat. The one thing that I remember of the film is a hideous background score each time Sanjay Dutt comes on.

All in all, Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster 3 is nothing compared to Saheb, Biwi Aur Gangster (2011) and Saheb and Biwi Aur Gangster Returns (2013). It has taken the third Saheb, Biwi Aur Gangster instalment five years to take shape and this one has nothing new to offer.

In fact, it just all over the place. Avoid this one completely.
