It’s entertaining, it’s filmy and it’s laced with loads of humour, well, I am talking about the film Mauli, which has just hit the theatres.
Mauli is all about Inspector Mauli Sarjerao Deshmukh (Riteish Deshmukh), a Vithoba devotee who is a distant cousin of the character of the same name from the blockbuster Marathi film Lai Bhaari (2014).
It revolves around an honest cop who locks horns with a liquor and land mafia run by Nana Londhe (Jitendra Joshi) from the village that he is posted at.
Its a typical good versus evil story that is laced with loads of action, a fast-paced narrative and some good music.
In all of this, we also get to meet Renuka (Saiyami Kher), who made her debut with Mirzya (2016), who is the local spice girl. She is fun to watch and does complete justice to her character.
However, the film belongs to Riteish Deshmukh, who owns every frame of Mauli. He is in command and delivers a sincere performance.
Kshitij Patwardhan has beautifully adapted Milap Zaveri’s story and has even tried to infuse a meaningful message into it.
Fresh from the success of Faster Fene, Aditya Sarpotdar is totally in control with this one. Yes, the move may look very predictable, but then who cares as long as this one entertains.
The makers are very clear about what they had to offer and they have stuck to the same from the word go. The film has a soul and that’s what’s beautiful about this one.
All in all, Mauli is a film that I am sure will set the Box Office ablaze. Yes, the film will for sure be compared to Lai Bhaari, but then at the end, this one too will compel the moviegoers to watch it.
Do catch Maui this weekend and I am sure you will get entertained as this film is an out and out mass entertainer.
