In a recent development, looks like the chat show has now lost its sponsorship from Google owing to the backlash faced on social media for Hardik Pandya and K. L. Rahul’s sexist remarks.
The last time one saw the Google logo on the show was on January 13, 2019, the episode which featured Shahid Kapoor and Ishaan Khattar. Post this episode the logo vanished and if this was not enough, this week, February 03, 2019, the episode with Aditya Roy Kapur and Sidharth Malhotra, just before the Rapid Fire Round, Karan did not mention Google Home but instead just said turn on the rapid-fire lights.
Reportedly, in the upcoming episode with Kriti Sanon and Kartik Aryan the Google Home device will not even appear on the side table next to Karan Johar.
While an official clarification from Star World or Karan Johar is yet to be issued; buzz is strong that the reason why Google has pulled out from the show, all thanks to the Hardik Pandya and K. L. Rahul controversy.
Recently, Karan Johar has finally opened up on the controversy saying the issue has reached a stage where damage control isn’t possible.
“I have to say that I feel very responsible because it was my show, it was my platform. I invited them as guests and so the ramifications and repercussion of the show are my responsibility. I have had so many so many sleepless nights, wondering about how I can undo this damage, who is gonna listen to me. It’s now gone into a zone which is beyond my control.” stated Karan.
In all of this, a fresh case has been filed against Karan Johar and the two cricketers in Jodhpur over their misogynist comments. The details of the case are yet to be known but it seems like there is more trouble brewing for the Kofee makers this seaosn.
