Ranveer Singh is currently making headlines for all the right reasons. Yesterday everyone was talking about, Jayeshbhai Jordaar, his new film with Yash Raj Films and today it's all about 83.
Well, Ranveer took on to social media to introduce the team that took the cricketing world by storm and created history by winning the world cup against West Indies. The caption on the post read, "It's game time. '83 squad on the move. The journey begins."
Kabir Khan's 83 is all set to go on the floors soon as the team took off to London to begin the shooting. The film narrates the historic tale of India winning the 1983 cricket world cup under the captaincy of former cricketer Kapil Dev.
Ranveer Singh is all set to play the former Indian captain. Before leaving for London, the cast reached the Mumbai airport just like an official team taking off to bring back the world cup.
"I feel prepared and less anxious than I was when I started. This is the longest I have prepared for any role. I have been preparing essentially since January, which makes it about six months. I have done three weeks, three and a half weeks, four weeks, six weeks, but six months preparing for a character is unique, but then, it's a unique film in itself," stated Ranveer Singh before leaving for London with the squad.
The team had earlier trained in Dharamshala where they were perfecting their cricketing skills under veteran players of the 83 World Cup. Ranveer Singh also spent a couple of days with the legendary cricketer Kapil Dev in Delhi and also trained under him.
The film also casts Harrdy Sandhu, Sahil Khattar, Adinath Kothare, Jatna Sarna, Saqib Saleem, Chirag Patil, Pankaj Tripathi, Tahir Raj Bhasin, Ammy Virk and Jiiva.
83 will be directed by Kabir Khan and it will be jointly produced by Madhu Mantena, Vishnu Induri, Kabir Khan and Sajid Nadiadwala. The film is based on India's victory at the 1983 Cricket World Cup and is slated to release on April 10, 2020.
