February 24, 2018, everyone woke up with the shocking news of Sridevi's death. One of the most versatile actors of all time, Sridevi died due to accidental drowning in the bathtub of her hotel suite in Dubai.
The sea of fans during her last journey in Mumbai was proof of the love she garnered over the years.
On her death anniversary today, many people penned emotional notes for her, remembering her role in their lives. Janhvi Kapoor, who made her debut last year, penned an emotional note.
"My heart will always be heavy. But I'll always be smiling because it has you in it." Janhvi captioned a black and white photo.
Anil Kapoor, Sridevi's brother-in-law and co-star of several films, says that there is a certain emptiness that the family always feels whenever there is any occasion in the house or a get-together. For the family, Sridevi's presence is irreplaceable.
Manish Malhotra also took to Instagram today to post a picture of the late actress with him an emotional note. Manish wrote "I Miss You. Our Talks and laughter and all our time together. Memories that will always be with me."
Sanjay Kapoor's wife Maheep also shared a set of pictures to remember Sridevi and captioned them, "Will always remember the good times."
Sridevi let career take a backseat after she married producer Boney Kapoor, and focussed on being a mother to daughters Janhvi and Khushi, before facing the cameras again with English Vinglish (2012). Her comeback was a rare success for a female actor in Indian cinema.
Adil Hussain, who played Sridevi's husband in the film, said she was often the centre of attraction in a room because of her presence and beauty, but Sridevi would make herself almost non-existent so that she could absorb the world silently. Five years after her English Vinglish, Sridevi gave a power-packed performance with Ravi Udyawar's Mom.
Sridevi, in a career spanning five decades, featured in 300 films. Mom (2017) was her last film as a lead actress, for which she also won a National Award.
