It's raining awards and that's the reason London's Royal Albert Hall rolled out the red carpet for the 72nd British Academy Film Awards also referred to as the BAFTA Awards.

While Joanna Lumley returned to host the gala, Yorgos Lanthimos dark period comedy The Favourite, which went into the night with 12 nominations, dominated the night with seven wins.

However, it was Roma that walked away with the award for Best Film and Best Director, while Rami Malek walked away with the Best Actor trophy for Bohemian Rhapsody.

Mahershala Ali was honoured with the award for the Best Supporting Actor for Green Book, while Rachel Weisz, walked away with the Best Supporting Actress Award for the film The Favourite.
It's interesting to note that both Rami Malek and Mahershala Ali are considered front-runners at the upcoming 91st Academy Awards. Another Oscar nominee Spike Lee won The BAFTA for Best Adapted Screenplay for BlackKklansman.
