It has power, it is all about an unbelievable true story based on the Battle of Saragarhi, 1897 and it has Akshay Kumar essaying the role of Havildar Ishar Singh, well, I am talking about the trailer of Kesari that's just hit the net.

Kesari trailer begins with Havildar Isher Singh (Akshay Kumar) talking about a British officer calling India the land of cowards. The trailer also shares a glimpse of Parineeti Chopra, who is filled with pride as Havildar Ishar Singh heads into battle.

Directed by Anurag Singh, Kesari is based on the battle of Saragarhi fought between the British Indian army's Sikh Regiment and Afghan tribesmen in September 1897. The British Indian contingent comprising 21 Sikh soldiers were attacked by around 10,000 Afghans and decided to fight to death, which is considered by some as one of history?s greatest last-stands. Akshay plays the turban-clad Havildar Ishar Singh who leads the small group of soldiers to fight a war with not just their meagre weapons but their valour.

Back in the 19th Century, Saragarhi was a tiny, non-decrepit village in what was then the North-West Frontier Province. Today, it stands a few hours outside Peshawar near the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.

The 21 Sikh soldiers killed between 180-600 Afghan tribesmen. Eventually, each of the soldiers succumbed, but they had fought through the day, giving Fort Lockhart and Fort Gulistan enough time to prepare. They had also inflicted heavy losses on the invading forces. Saragarhi fell but was soon recaptured by the British forces.

Meanwhile, Ajay Devgn and Rajkumar Santoshi are also reportedly working on a film based on the Battle Of Saragarhi. This apart, Randeep Hooda is also making a historical drama on the same subject.

The trailer is powerful and has an unseen technique of sword fighting and catchy dialogues as the Sikh soldiers wearing saffron turbans go on to face the enemy in the battlefield.

All in all, Kesari is a film that's full of power and full of patriotism. I am so looking forward to this film which is a joint production venture between Dharma Productions, Cape Of Good Films, Azure Entertainment and Zee Studios.

Starring Akshay Kumar, Parineeti Chopra, and Vansh Bhardwaj, Kesari is set for a March 21, 2019 release.
