Chhapaak has been in the news since the time Deepika Padukone shared her film look from the film. Director Meghna Gulzar, who has been continuously shooting this film has finally called it a wrap after an exhaustive 43 days schedule in Delhi.
Chhapaak presents the story of acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal. The film has Deepika Padukone playing the lead role of Malti and she will be sharing screen space with Vikrant Massey who is essaying the character of Amol.
Meghna, after completing the shoot of the movie, shared pictures with the cast and crew of Chhapaak. The one which had Deepika and Vikrant wrapping their arms around her was shared with the caption, "And we wrapped Chhapaak. Malti and Amol I will carry you with me. Thank you for your faith and for pouring yourself into our film!"
"A wrap is an emotional experience, more so for Chhapaak, because everyone working on it made it their own. Deepika's character will stay with her for life. There is Malti, and then there is Deepika who became Malti. For me, Malti is Deepika and Deepika is Malti." stated Meghna in a statement, whose last film Raazi was a huge Box Office success.
Deepika too shared a photo from the wrap and called Chahapaak "The most precious film" of her career. She plays a character named Malti and the film will showcase her journey spanning a decade after the attack. A significant part of the story is the game-changing Public Interest Litigation in the Supreme Court, which inspired the amendment of acid laws in 2013.
Deepika was last seen on the big screen in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Padmaavat (2018). Meanwhile, Vikrant last appeared in AltBalaji's web series titled Broken but Beautiful, where he played the role of a heartbroken husband who lost the love of his life in a car accident.
The film has been bankrolled by Fox Star Studios, KA Productions and Mriga Films and will release in the theatres on January 10, 2020.
