An official remake of the Telugu blockbuster Arjun Reddy, Kabir Singh is all about Kabir Singh (Shahid Kapoor) and his obsession for his girlfriend Preeti (Kiara Advani), which leads him on to the path of self-destruction.
Kabir is a senior and a topper in one of Delhi's most reputed medical institutes. He meets Preeti a fresher to the college and its love at first sight for Kabir. He is smitten by her and very soon in the film declares her as his girlfriend to the entire college and takes control of her entire life, transforming into mentor and protector. Does he even bother to ask Preeti about what she feels about him, well, for that you need to watch the film. Preeti is married off to someone else and that's where the problem arises.
He is heart broke and hits the bottle. He is even drunk while performing the most complicated surgeries.
Kabir Singh is not the conventional type of love story, but then it has its moments and I am sure moviegoers will find it worth their while.
The remake stays mostly true to the original. However, the original had better chemistry between the lead actors, hence the love story seemed more effective. However, the only downer for Kabir Singh is the length of the time as there are no relief moments, especially in the second half.
Kamini Kaushal, Suresh Oberoi, Arjan Bajwa and Soham Majumdar make for a great supporting cast to Shahid and help immensely in adding the emotional quotient required for this film.
However, Kabir Singh belongs to Shahid Kapoor. He breathes life to the dark character and I feel that this one is his best till date.
All in all, Kabir Singh is a film worth a watch. Do catch this one as I am sure you will not be disappointed.
