After Bhaag Milkha Bhaag (2013), both Farhan Akhtar and Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra are all set to for another sports drama titled Toofan that will feature Farhan in the role of a boxer.
Farhan, took to his Instagram account to make the big announcement. Sharing a throwback picture of him and Rakeysh, he wrote on the photo-sharing platform, "Thrilled to share that 6 years after Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra and I are reuniting to create Toofan, a heartfelt story of a boxer. Hope for your best wishes as we embark on this new journey. Love."
Unlike Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, which was based on the life of former Indian sprinter Milkha Singh, Toofan will be a fictional story. It has been scripted by Anjum Rajabali. Zaira Wasim who was seen in films like Dangal and Secret Superstar is being considered for a key role in the film.
If sources are to be believed, Farhan immediately fell in love with the script and is very excited to collaborate with Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra after a hiatus of six years. The actor will soon begin his extensive training in boxing. On the other hand, the director too has begun prepping up for this big-budgeted project.
Toofan will be produced by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar under their film production banner of Excel Entertainment in association with Rakeysh Omprakash Mehraowned ROMP Pictures.
As far as Farhan is concerned, well, he will be seen in the much-delayed The Fakir Of Venice, directed by Anand Surapur, which is expected to open in theatres on February 18, 2019, a decade after its world premiere at the Indian Film Festival in Los Angeles in 2009. Currently, Farhan is working on Shonali Bose's The Sky Is Pink, also starring Priyanka Chopra.
On the other hand, Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra's Mere Pyaare Prime Minister, which explores the issue of public toilets, is scheduled to be released in March.
Here's wishing team Toofan all the very best.
