In a shocking revelation, Rajkumar Hirani has been named in the on-going Me Too Movement in the country. Rajkumar Hirani has been accused by a woman, who claimed that he sexually abused her on more than one occasion over a six-month period between March and September 2018, during the post-production work of Sanju.

In a report on HuffPost India, the woman, who is believed to have assisted Rajkumar Hirani on the film, alleged in an email dated November 03, 2018, addressed to Vidhu Vinod Chopra, Anupama Chopra, Shelly Chopra and scriptwriter Abhijat Joshi. In her email, the accuser had reportedly stated that Rajkumar Hirani first made a sexually suggestive remark to her and then sexually assaulted her at his home-office on April 09, 2018.

The report further states that Anupama Chopra confirmed that the woman had shared her account with her and that Vinod Chopra Films has since set up a committee to address the complaints.

In her interview with HuffPost India, she has reportedly stated that she took great pains to conceal Rajkumar Hirani's actions and maintain a facade of normalcy as her father was suffering from a terminal illness and she needed to hold on to her job.

Rajkumar Hirani has denied all allegations through his lawyer Anand Desai and has also shared printouts of text messages and emails exchanged between the two over the six months to justify that they had a professional relationship.

Post all these allegations Rajkumar Hirani's name has been dropped from the posters of Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga. When first released, the poster of the Sonam Kapoor-Rajkummar Rao starrer was labelled under Vinod Chopra Films as well as Rajkumar Hirani Films. While the production house's name was included in the film's teaser, it was absent in the trailer.

Rajkumar Hirani is the latest name to be called out in India's Me Too movement, in which women have accused Nana Patekar, Alok Nath, Anu Malik, Vikas Bahl and Sajid Khan among others of sexual misconduct.
