It is aspirational, it has loads of hope and last but not the least it has Ranveer Singh who reminds me of Bittoo Sharma from Band Baaja Baaraat, well, I am talking about the trailer if Gully Boy that's just hit the net.

The trailer shows Ranveer Singh essaying the role of a driver's son who is told over and over again that one cannot rise above the economic and social status that they are born in. However, he believes that he can and he will. We also get to meet his love entrest, Sakina (Alia Bhatt) who believes in him.

One also gets to meet some of his friends and a few more who are either threatening him or pulling him down. There are lots that's unsaid and unspoken and this trailer keeps you wanting for more.

Gully Boy is in part based on the life and struggles of rapper Divine and his troupe of street rappers, who go by the name Gully Gang. The trailer of the film also gives a glimpse into some foot-tapping music which has been produced with the help of Divine and Naezy.

All said and done, the trailer belongs to Ranveer Singh, who has got into the skin of any character, and looks convincing as a rapper from the streets of Mumbai.

"When somebody told me about the script of Gully Boy, I told them that it is my film. If any other actor would have been a part of this film instead of me then I would have got burnt with jealousy. I was born to do Gully Boy and I knew only I can pull off this character." states Ranveer, who is teaming up with Zoya for the second time around, their first being Dil Dhadakne Do (2015).

Directed by Zoya Akhtar, written by Reema Kagti and Zoya Akhtar, the film stars Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, Kalki Koechlin, Siddhant Chaturvedi, Vijay Varma, Nakul Sahdev, Vijay Raaz, Amruta Subhash, Surveen Chawla, Sheeba Chaddha, and Jasleen Royal.

Gully Boy will premiere at the Berlin International Film Festival's Berlinale Special category, ahead of its release on February 14, 2019.
